News : A Message from the Race Directors

It's been quite a year since our first officially sanctioned race last summer. We sent two local champions to Akron, Ohio, to compete for the national titles in their car classes. They had a great experience and made many new Soap Box Derby friends from across the country.
Sponsors and volunteers have worked diligently to make the Dunwoody Soap Box Derby what we hope to be a longtime tradition. Special thanks must go to The Crier, Bank of North Georgia and First Baptist Church Atlanta for sponsoring the 2010 Derby. They have been tremendously generous with their resources and we are proud to have them as our presenting sponsors.
Sponsor banners will be visible at the race. A complete list of additional sponsors who have also contributed to help make the Derby a success are available on this website! Our hats are off to them for their dedication to making community events like this happen.
You will notice some great improvements during this year's race!!
Official name changed to "Dunwoody Soap Box Derby." Although the race area includes Clayton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, the city of Dunwoody is our official home and Race City designation.
More comfortable. The track has been shifted to afford better shade for both spectators as well as drivers. This will improve the comfort factor of enjoying the race.
Better crowd communication. A professional announcer from the SpeedChannel will be announcing this year's race. This will provide a positive, professional, and fun crowd experience!
Faster ramps and track! We have re-designed our ramps to offer a longer, better slope and faster launch onto the steeper track.
Greater variety of food vendors. This year, spectators will purchase directly from vendors instead of having to buy tickets.
Children's activities have been added for a better family experience.
All in all, it's going to be another fantastic Soap Box Derby in Dunwoody this year and we're looking forward to welcoming you in person on June 5. Race starts at 9 a.m.
